Biography
Gabrielle Gagnon-Picard, winner of second prize at the 2022 Eckhardt-Gramatté National Music Competition, is a Montreal pianist at the start of her career already in high demand as a soloist, chamber musician and accompanist. Among his prestigious collaborations, let us mention his participation in the concerts of the ECM+ (Ensemble Contemporain de Montréal), the ViU (Vivier Interuniversitaire), and the ECMS (Edmonton Chamber Music Society). Currently preparing for her first Canadian tour in April/May 2025 with Jeunesses Musicales du Canada, Gabrielle is hailed for her captivating interpretations and musical engagement, particularly in the world of new and contemporary music.
In 2022, she was honored with the annual Auguste Descarries Prize, adding to an impressive list of distinctions, including an AIDA scholarship from the Jeunesses Musicales foundation in 2021, a Prize of Excellence from the Montreal Conservatory of Music in 2020, and the Edmonton Chamber Music Society Scholarship in 2016.
Gabrielle obtained her Advanced Diploma (2022) and her Masters in Music (2021) from the Montreal Conservatory of Music, as well as a Bachelor of Music with distinction from the University of Alberta (2019). She benefited from the teaching of Louise Bessette and Dr. Jacques Després, and participated in courses, master classes and workshops with renowned artists such as Corey Hamm, Charles-Richard Hamelin, Veronique Lacroix, Jason Cutmore, and Mari Kodama. Having premiered dozens of works, ranging from solo piano to large ensembles, his dedication to collaboration with young composers and his musical sensitivity foreshadow a promising future in the world of classical music.
