Roman Timofeev, piano

Studio doors open at 7:00 PM, music starts around 7:30 PM

Since 2004, Russian pianist Roman has performed as a guest soloist in music venues throughout Europe and North America. While studying at the Moscow State Conservatory, where he was in the class of the outstanding and world-renowned pianists Naum Shtarkman and Rouvim Ostrovsky, Roman won the Grand Prix at the Vorzel International Competition in Kyiv. In 2010, he won first prize at the Concours Musical de France in Paris. The following year, Roman attended an advanced course under Professor Lea-Yoanna Adam at the Académie des Artistes Musiciens in Paris. Since 2011, Roman has been a permanent member of this Academy. Roman leads a varied musical life, including piano recitals and orchestral concerts in Russia, France, Estonia, and Romania. Roman's chamber music collaborations include those with the Ploiesti and Bacau Symphony Orchestras (Romania), where he worked with conductors Illarion Ionescu-Galaty and Ovidiu Balan. From 2007 to 2013, Roman collaborated with honored Bolshoi Theatre cellist Alla Marasanova-Stein in over thirty concerts. Some concerts also included performances by Bolshoi Theatre opera singers Nina Terenteva and Elena Novak. Roman emigrated to Canada in 2013, where he made his debuts in London and Toronto. In 2018 and 2019, he gave several recitals in Montreal, Ottawa and Paris (France), performing a unique program composed of Chopin's 4 Ballades and 24 Études. Roman currently lives in Montreal where he alternates his pianistic activity with piano teaching.
