Rosemary Mantchev is a Montreal pianist of Canadian origin. She developed an early interest in music and was introduced to classical concerts on Montreal's vibrant arts scene through her parents. In 2012, she began piano lessons at the McGill Conservatory of Music. Her discipline and dedication earned her the Kenneth Woodman Scholarship and the Vera Black Scholarship from the McGill Conservatory. During this same period, she regularly received "High Distinction" in theory exams and ear training courses. From 2016 to 2021, Rosemary studied at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal. During her studies, she received numerous awards and distinctions. Rosemary was one of the 25 participants selected for the renowned television show "Émission Virtuose," hosted by Mr. Gregory Charles. At the age of 11, she won first place at the American Protégé International Music Talent Competition in the fall of 2015 and was invited to perform at Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York City. This same invitation was renewed the following year. In 2018, she participated in the Sherbrooke Classical Music Competition and won first prize with the highest score. Shortly after, she won the Grand Prix and the Canimex Cup at the Concours de musique de la Capitale. In 2019, she won first prize in the concerto category at the Festival - Concours de musique de Sherbrooke. That same year, she was admitted to the Domaine Forget International Music Festival, where she was the youngest student admitted, which allowed her to perform on stage and take masterclasses with pianists such as Angela Cheng and Benedetto Lupo. This year, she won first prize at the 7th Anselmo Academy Music Competition. Rosemary recently graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Piano Performance from the Mannes School of Music in New York City. Since beginning her studies at Mannes, her schedule has been very busy. Rosemary has performed at several events in the Mannes Sounds Festival's "Piano Cantabile" series, as well as in numerous prestigious venues, including the Union Club, Steinway Hall, Scandinavia House, and Bohemian Hall. She has participated in masterclasses with renowned pianists such as Hyoung-Joon Chang, Jerome Rose, and Asaf Zohar. She has also recorded twice for classical radio station WQXR in New York City and gave her debut recital with flautist Chris Boyadjiev at Weill Hall Carnegie Hall in May 2024, as part of the "Musical Treasures of Bulgaria" concert.
